Facce da Calcio contains an extraordinary series of 30 portraits of international football players of the World Cup 2006. Each picture is accompanied by the signature and a short quote from the footballer.
We were actually always aware that it would be nearly impossible to portray the thirty best football players. Nonetheless, in a café in New York in November 2004 we decided to try anyhow. Two months later we set up our little studio and our plate camera for the first time in a stadium (…) A short time later, FIFA agreed to support the idea of our project.
